Day 222 – Glass House Mountains, Qld (22 Apr)

Have just seen the python that lives in the roof of the house.  Have been looking for it since we have been here and luckily we saw it tonight.  We think it is a Carpet Python (we called it Claude or maybe Claudette!).  They are harmless and are carnivores so it is probably waiting for a mouse or something like that to waltz on by.  John couldn’t resist trying to touch it and it was not happy, it actually had a little strike at him.

  1. It looks like a very interesting trip. How is the car going? Any comments on car + caravan in comparison with a mobile home with a shower and loo?

  2. Hi Ian & Mary
So far we have replaced all 4 tyres, new Battery, flushed radiator and replaced a gasket and have found a small rust patch (which I'll be filling) So nothing major! (yet) The van is excellent seems the older ones were more solid in construction BUT the only thing missing is a shower & loo especially if you want to "Free" camp (which I don't!) Down side of a 5th wheeler would be it's size some parks charge a double site and @ $30 average per night if you are going to pay $60 you may as well stay in a chalet!
    Cheers
    John

  3. Yep, it's a non-venomous Carpet Python. It can still bite and draw blood, of course, so the biggest risk of coming down with a snake or mouse microbe of some sort. Anyone watch the TV series 'V'? Maybe that's where the visitors come from.
